Euromillions Events 2005
Record! Irishwoman wins over 115,4 million euros
After the euromillions were first played on February 13th, 2004, they hit the headlines in the following year. The reason was the record amount of 115,436,126 euros, which Dolores McNamara won on July 29th, 2005 show, when she cracked the first Euromillions jackpot.
This were the highest winnings ever paid out by a Lotto company in Europe. In fact, Dolores McNamara had only wanted to buy a new shell for her mobile phone at the supermarket Garryowen Stores, but then asked for a lottery ticket for EuroMillions at the checkout. The investment of just two euros was more than worthwhile for the Irishwoman.
A few hours later her numbers were drawn: 3, 9, 26, 49, 50, Lucky Star 4 and Lucky Star 5. The factory worker and mother of six children could use the money well. A small part of the winnings the Irin invested in the purchase of a property in the idyllic village of Killaloe, which is located near the town of Limerick.
